LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
WHAT IS LAKE MBURO FAMOUS FOR?
Lake Mburo national park is among the smallest national parks in Uganda covering over 260 kilometere (100-square-mile) park encompassing not only Lake Mburo National but also the other four smaller parks. It’s about 3 hrs. drive from Kampala on road to the park. Mainly savannah with scattered acacia trees, the park features rolling hills, open grass valley, thickets, woodland and rich wetlands. Lake Mburo national park is also famous for over 350 bird species include African Fin, Brown parrot, papyrus gonolek, Black collared barbet, white winged tit and many more. It’s a home to wide variety of wildlife. The Uganda Wildlife Authority is trying to work closely with the local people called the “Bahima” to conserve wildlife.
How to get there.
The main turn off to lake Mburo National Park Nshara’s gate is approximately 110 kilometres (68 miles) from masaka ,219 kilometeres 136 miles from Kampala, and 35 kilometeres (22miles) from Mbarara. It’s served by the good tarmac kampala-kabale road, although there is 24 kilometeres stretch off dirt road to the park gate.
